MP David Winnick didn’t need a single vote to take a seat in a new house in Walsall.

The Walsall North MP, who is used to spending time in the House of Commons, was invited to officially open the show properties at a new development off Hawbush Road.

More than 90 homes are being created by McInerney Homes West Midlands at Beacon Wood on the site of a former envelope factory.

It includes a mix of two-bedroom apartments – appealing to first time buyers – and three and four-bedroom houses for those taking their second or third step on the property ladder.

Already several sales have been made on the scheme and Mr Winnick said he was glad to see a brownfield site in his constituency being put to good use.

Mr Winnick added that he was pleased to see new housing being made available including properties for owner occupiers and would also like to see social and affordable housing on other sites as well as at Beacon Wood.

David Griffin, managing director of McInerney Homes West Midlands, said: “We are very grateful to Mr Winnick for coming along to unveil the show properties.

“We have made a considerable investment in Walsall to create high-quality new homes at a price that local people can afford.”

Prices for the apartments at Beacon Wood start at £104,950 and the houses begin at £158,950. The showhomes are open from 10.30am until 5.30pm every day. For more information call 01922 494610.
